The Man Who Tried To Pay

Once there was a man and he went to a restaurant.  He tried to pay for it (sic) but he couldn’t pay.  He tried and he tried but he couldn’t get his way.  So the Mum who was there, payed (sic).  He couldn’t pay because the Mum with him came there almost every day.

This was on the same occasion as the previous story.  Norman tried to pay but Ying exerted the ‘influence of regular patronage’ and compelled the cashier to reject Norman’s money.

MEGAN & THE QUARTER-BOWLS OF RICE

There once was a girl called Megan who loved to eat rice.
One day, she went to a restaurant called (sic) Robson heights (sic). She had some rice.  She ate a whole bowl of rice, and her Mom left a quarter-bowl of rice, and she ate it.  Her Granduncle left a quarter-bowl of rice too.  She also ate that.

We had dinner that evening at a Chinese place along Jalan Robson.  There were 5 of us: Ying, Norman, Tua Lau Ko, Grandma and Megan.  Megan ate up her own bowl of rice and then all the remaining quarter-bowls of rice.
